A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A COMMODITY SPECIALIST
Commodity Specialists are responsible for creating and maintaining relationships with new and existing strategic suppliers. This position plays a pivotal role in the company ensuring the stability of our supply chain and competitiveness. Coordination with colleagues & utilization of resources from the Engineering, Quality, Accounting, Operations and Sales teams to fulfill client needs is critical to the success of Commodity Management.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position requires working Monday – Friday.
This position will have some travel to suppliers, less than 15%.

Coordination with colleagues & utilization of resources from the Engineering, Quality, Accounting, Operations and Sales teams to fulfill client needs is critical to the success of Commodity Management.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Managing the company's supply chain by sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing commodities
- Maintain/Implement pricing strategy to establish the best price market wide
- Evaluate market conditions to mitigate risks
- Understand product offerings provided by suppliers
- Maintain/Implement inventory strategies to decrease cost, increase inventory turns, and increase profitability
- Maintain/Implement supplier rebate programs
- Negotiate competitive payment terms / Assist Accounting with invoice concerns
- Build and maintain good relationships with both new and existing suppliers
- Conduct quarterly business reviews with strategic suppliers to review performance and establish continuous improvement strategies
- Assist on identifying suppliers for gap purchases
- Assist Quality with customer / supplier concerns
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Excel, Word, Access
- Experience using Epicor Prophet 21 and IQS (Enterprise Quality Management) Software
- Purchasing experience with both domestic and international suppliers
- Experience in the Fastener Industry
- Resolve problems where precedent may not exist
- Driven, have sense of urgency, take ownership
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
- Ability to cooperate with people of different levels inside/ outside the company and to interact with team to reach team goals and business objectives
- Ability to gather information, analyze data, prepare, and lead negotiations as well as suggest recommendations
